“Challenges to Security in the Caspian Region.”
Next biannual NISA Session will take place on 3-9 February, 2013. The topic of the NISA Winter Session will be “Challenges to Security in the Caspian Region.”
We will host 20 participants from Azerbaijan and 20 participants from abroad to discuss all the potential sources of conflict in the Caspian region. Our guest speakers during the event will be prominent scholars, diplomats, politicians and practitioners involved in the processes ongoing in the Caspian region.
We will discuss military conflicts in the South Caucasus, issues related to Caspian delimitation and rows over oil and gas reserves in the Caspian basin, Iran’s nuclear proliferation program, etc. We will also look into new emerging domains of conflict in the region such as environmental and cyberspace.
This program is aimed at graduate students, young researchers, early to mid-career academics, experts and practitioners,who are interested in the Caspian region. We anticipate recruiting a group of 40 individuals dedicated to International Relations, Politics, International security and Caspian region.
Expenses: NISA will cover travelling, lodging and food expenses of all the participants.
